HABITAT & PROJECTS
HABITAT PROGRAMS for LANDOWNERS - GENERAL CONSERVATION RESERVE PROGRAM (CRP) SIGN-UP
USDA has general CRP signup,
which started January 3, 2021 and the sign-up has been extended beyond the initial deadline of February 12. The new deadline to sign up is undecided at the moment. This signup will target more of the upland and sandy hill areas in your cropland and is structured differently than the continuous signup being on a ranking system rather than first come first serve. As we learn more, we will send an update and post it to the Brown County Pheasants Forever website athttp://www.browncountypf.org/news/.
We encourage all landowner to become familiar with these programs and what may be eligible for them. Stop into the USDA office in Sleepy Eye or NRCS office asap as this signup is on a first come first serve basis. Your best contact is to reach out to Luke Zilverberg our local Pheasants Forever Habitat Biologist at (507) 794-7997 (Ext. 110) or email him at lzilverberg@pheasantsforever.org. He will be happy to answer any of your questions. Total acres enrolled in 2020 = 2,291 Total Brown County CRP acres = 14,187

MEMBERSHIP
The monies we receive through donations, fund raising, and membership are critical to us enhancing or purchasing lands for all the public to enjoy. We encourage everyone to renew their membership to Pheasants
Forever or upgrade their membership to a Lifetime membership.
Pheasants Forever is the only national organization with a model of chapters keeping 100% of the funds they raise. While belonging to a larger national organization that has a voice on federal and state conservation policies, chapters are tasked with finding projects for their funds. Minnesota takes full advantage of this model using funds raised for projects locally as well as other areas in the state of Minnesota.
